Cavtat is an ancient
Mediterranean town that raises on the slopes of the southern coast of
Croatia, in Dubrovnik area. It's town of beautiful palaces, summer
mansions and hotels, with a pleasant climate and luxuriant vegetation and nice
beaches. This little thown is known to be famous tourist centre of the
southernmost part of the Croatian coast.
Cavtat offers various forms of accommodation - hotels, boarding
houses, apartments, intensive exploitation of economic resources of the
hinterland, together with excellent recreational opportunities - pleasant
walks, tennis courts, gyms, jogging trails, saunas, water sports facilities,
especially famous for water-polo.
The main permanent cultural event is the Cavtat Summer (July - August), with a
number of concerts of
harmony-singing groups, folk music groups and sports
tournaments ( Second Croatian water-polo leauge). The most popular event is
the Day of Our Lady of the Snows, along with the public holiday
commemorating an important date in the recent Croatian history. During
the carnival festivities, the Small Carnival Fiesta is the main event.
